|As a joint activity of GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) and RCREEE, the education and training landscape in the context of renewable energies and energy efficiency in the MENA region has been analyzed in the context of the regional GIZ project RE-ACTIVATE. In the first step, the focus has been on the three RE-ACTIVATE countries Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia. Subsequently the analysis will be carried out for other RCREEE member countries. On the following pages a mapping and description of the important stakeholders and processes in the area of RE/EE training and capacity development is provided for each country, based on questionnaires that have been filled in by the concerned stakeholders.|

The project aims to strengthen national statistical capacity in developing energy information system and energy statistics and balances in ESCWA member countries. Through training activities and sharing knowledge, the project will support member countries in adopting of corrective policies and programs and promoting the production of statistics and indicators on the energy in line with United Nations methodologies.

On May 27th, the Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal - during his visit to Rome - announced that Algeria will build Gaslo gas pipeline which will bring gas to Italy."This is a project that we intend to relaunch as part of this new vision of security for Italy and Europe through alternative sources of energy supply from Algeria," he said.
